Merry Christmas to all From the Schwope Ranch

Merry Christmas to All from Luke and Inez

Well here we are on Christmas morning and poor ole Santa is going to get very wet and Muddy getting in here to deliver our presents.

Day before yesterday it started raining here and it has been mostly none stop every since. On Friday the pad construction crew decided to deliver

Truckheaded strigh in has busted oil pan

Chechie to cover the new pads that they are getting ready for the drilling rig. Bad move as we had 1.5 inches of rain the day before and the county road from the highway (1 mile to the gate) was still very muddy and it took its toll on the trucks 3 had there bumpers bent 2 overheated from mud in the radiators and 1 got a 4″ crack

Pushing broken truck to pad to dump dirt

in the oil pan. We were to get 300+ loads however they decided to stop the effort after 50 loads and said they will try again next Tuesday. Don’t know if that will happen as it is still raining and to get to the gate to open it for traffic is a real job. The Mud will try to take your shoes away.

Reeally feel for the guys on the rig they are trying to do a wash down and get ready for a move to the next pad. And the vehicles are having a hard time of getting in and out to get the work done.

Our new diggs are getting quite a break-in also. what a mess trying to leave the Mud outside. We have to pull off our shoes upon entering and put them on upon exiting. the trip to the gate is around in front of the rig as we have a turn to the right just in-side of the gate.

Merry Christmas to you both! Sue said it was quite a muddy mess there. Ugh… I really hate mud. It rained all day here yesterday and is still raining this a.m., but not hard. PetroHawk had their Christmas dinner yesterday (Christmas Eve) and feted us with steak and shrimp and all the fixings! I suppose I’ll sleep most of Christmas day – pretty quiet here, too. I expect things will pick back up Monday. So sorry for all the mud in your new home. That’s quite a challenge isn’t it?
Once again, I wish you a merry, if quiet, Christmas!

Hello here we are Christmas morning really quite, enjoying it for change . We will probably be getting with it tomorrow as they are moving the drilling rig to the next pad. I didn’t think I would be saying this after the hot Summer we had but the sun is shining very pretty this morning, after all the rain we got. We are still sorting out things ( stuff ) in the 5th wheel but we are amazed at the room we have. Thanks Debbie for changing my husband’s mind about 5 th wheeles . I told him that 5 th wheeles seem to have more room than a motor home. And Thank the Lord I even have a washer and drier that cuts down on my trips to Tim buck too in order to get the laundry done. Well have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Inez

:D – I’m glad to have helped, Inez. Clearly if Heidi and I can handle it (well, our track record isn’t stellar but I think we’ve about got it down… maybe) ANYONE can – and I knew Luke would have no problems at all! The 5th wheel feels so much more like a home to me. I love the spaciousness and full kitchen etc…
And isn’t it heaven to have a washer and dryer? I think you’d have to live in the kind of places we do for as long as we do to really appreciate the luxury of doing wash in your own home!

I just had a fellow stop buy and say he’d have 11 trucks here at 5:30 in the morning (casings) but not to let them in until 6… Hmm… We’re right on the road and there’s knee deep mud everywhere, so I’m not sure where they’ll wait in the dark. Guess I’d better make a lot of coffee!

Happy New Year to you both! :D
