Yep we made it in here last night Friday at about 8PM. the trip from Katy Tx went well. THEN we broke one of our long time rules of 6+ years, that being never go into a park after the hours of darkness to get parked and set up. It brought back memories of my driving days when trying to park in truck stops in the dark with just enough room to try and shot that 53′ trailer abck into a dark hole that you could not see. Well this trailer park that we are in is just about as bad no lights and the trailers are just almost as close as trucks in a truck stop. We managed to get it backed in Put the level jacks down on the front ran tyhe slide outs open and called it a day. then this morning I leveled it on up and disconnected Big White from it.
This Morning we have had one problem that we liked to have never solved and it really reminded me of a blog that I read from another Gate Guard. while I was getting mad and calling the dealer to try to get answers on a Sat. finally found a service tech that knew his stuff and solved the problem. The problem was the same as theirs how to drain the second grey water tank. the wife was washing the puppies when the sink backed up she said I thought you draind the tanks when we left Katy Texas, to which I replied yes Dear I did. well said she you didn’t do so good the sink in the kitchen will not drain. so the fun begain and when I took the rear tank cap off and pulled the valve handle nothing happened so I looked and looked made a phone call to the dealer they said there is probably a handle behind the left rear tire, I looked no valve, searched all around couldn’t find called dealer again and the service manager said he would get me an answer and sure enough they call back a couple of hours later and his Tech told me to look underneath where the little plackard was for grey waste and sure enough there it is the same color as the main frame attached to same and you have to lay on your back and reach way up there to pull it open. What a stupid design its like an after thought. Its raining here I have red mud all over along with Sand spurs.
All in all the move wasn’t too bad we got to Katy on Monday, they had ordered a washer and drier for the rig and the drier was in but not the washer. so Tues they received the washer we had slept in the new rig Monday night they came and got it and put it in the shop abpujt 11:30AM and we got it back at 7:30PM we moved stuff from the Motor Home to the 5th wheel untill 02:00 the following morning took a short nap and was back at moving at 7:30 AM Wed. Inez desided that she would like to wash a load of close to check out the newq equipment. Well when I hooked up and turned on the water there was a slight leak at the faucet so I went and got water pump pliers tightend fitting then went inside aas I walked by the front of the rig I heard water running and I went to the door and ask the wife if she got the washer running that fast to which she replied I have been upstairs yet. OOOOOOOOOOOps I said hurry check I hear water running she screamed shut off the water and as I went under the front of the rig I got a shower from the water starting to run out of the bed room. Got the water sut off went and talked to Salesman and maintenance and after a few hours here they came took it back tot he shop. This time it was returned at 6:30Pm with the carpet still damp in the Closet we elected to put our heater on the carpet all night and runn the Air too to dry the carpet and floor out.
Then Thursday while finishing the move from Motor home to 5th wheel upon placing boxes in the front under bay I noticed that the floor had a large amount of water in it. Our Salesman was there and we got paper towels and dried it all out and he wanted to take the panel loose in the back of the bay loose to see if we could see any leaks, seeing none we figured that the water had come from the washer leak. No such luck in a short time the water was back in the floor Out comes the Tech again and the first thing he says we have to take it back to the shop. I said well we have to finish the move and we need to try to get done so after a hour he came back with the parts and replaced them in the camp ground. We finally finished the move at 11:00Pm and managed to depart Katy Friday at 2:00Pm.
All in all it was a good experence but not one that I would like to carry out again in the near furture.
Stay tuned and check back and Monday or so we sould be
Well this will be our last post on the gate for a week as we get up and go to Holiday World in Katy, Texas in in the Morning to pick up the wife’s new 5th Wheel.
The Wife is very ready to get it but Nervous about driving from here to the Houston area. For the past 6 years we have just hooked the little Nissan pickup behind the motor home and away we would go, however this ford for towing the 5th wheel has no front hitch Soooooooo. We will let yous know how the trip goes and the getting used to the new RV.
The gate is going good they have completed the surface drill, installed the casing and cemented them in and say they they should have the points turning in the early hours tomorrow morning to carry on to the final depth of 14,000 feet. well it will be 9,000′ vertical and the remaining 5,000′ Horizontal. Of course the surface drill was just over 4,000′.
Okay stay tuned in and as always we will do the best we can with what we got.
Yeah Yeah I know that we have been lazy about updating out page. But in Luke’s Defense he has been very busy trying to find just the right RV for his Darling Wife Inez.
Ford F350 Purchased at LoneStar Ford in Houston
First he had to find a Truck as it was decided that we were going to keep up with the other Gate guards in Texas and get rid of the Motor Home and get a 5th wheel. Mission accomplished on the truck. Got a Ford F350 Dual wheel 1 ton.
Next he spent many many hours on the web trying to find just the right 5th wheel and by
golly he did it once again with the help of that wonderful Lady Inez we settled on a 2012 KEYSTONE ALPINE FIFTH WHEEL which has every thing that we wanted and then some. Now next Monday our boss Roger has agreed for us to take a week off from the gate to go to Katy Texas to pick it up from Holiday World and return back to our gate on the following Monday.
Now to the Gate guard business they finally finished up well #1 and over this past week-end and this week they moved the rig to is new location here on the Schwope Ranch to drill another well. They now have that task completed and started the drillbits and pipes turning this afternoon at 4:30the they hopes of having the surface drilling completed to a depth of 4000 feet and by Sat or Sunday they plan on installing the casing for that part. We got 5 loads of casing pipes in this morning and 4 cement trucks along with the large cement tanks tha they use for the operation of cementing in the casing. So seems as though they planing on the first drilling to move right along.
We will try to keep you posted ont here status mind yo we will be gone a week but we will continue to do the best we can with what we have .Check us out.
Our Drilling Rig on location with t he direk part way down while changing out drill points
Well it has been slow at the gate over the Holidays, as it turned out the rig broke on the eve of Thanksgiving a relief valve that had to do with up and down movement of the top section of the deriks Broke and it being Thanksgiving they had to wait to get it in almost 2 days later so they cooked Turkeys and the trimmings for the people on the Rig. They are now back up and running and the Bit guider told me this morning that
Land owners Grandson with his 9 point buck on Thanksgiving Eve
once they go back into the hole this time they will have 14 more hours before they reach Total depth. And then they will have to bring the drill pipe out and set the well casing and get the concrete trucks in to cement those pipes in place. Then they are suppose to move over to another pad and drill two more Wells. Don’t know yet if they are going to Frac this first well upon completion or not.
We Also have two other construction companies on site building Roads and pads, One of the companies have the pad for the next drill site of the Rig almost ready for Cliechie and the trucks should start rolling in here tomorrow Three hundred belly dump trucks over two days.
The other construction company tells us that they will start road base on the three miles of road to the other pad on wed so looks like we are in for a busy week.
Then I suppose we will have all the Rig moving trucks in over the Week-end.so
Stay tuned we will try with what we have to keep all abreast of what is happening to ole Luke and Inez.
We started getting the equipment in today to get the other pads ready to deliver the top surface material.
Today had an exciting start as they had sevederal of the high up Company men in for a investors meeting and the 4 Chinamen arrived promply at 9 oclock. They was not long with there meeting and everyone departed the gate at approx 10:20.
After that the day was mostly normal with us recieving a Bulldozzer to get one of the pads ready for the installation of Cleiche and they came in and removed the mulcher that was clearing a new
They got finished witht he mulcher and a truck came in to pickit up
road for Pad-E.
They also delivered the Motor this evening that directs the pipe for the turn of the horizonal run.So I guess it won’t be long before they will be ready to start drilling the flat part.
Stay tuned and we will try to keep up here.
1 of our many trucks delivering Cement for the well Casing
Well things have again picked up for us here at the gate seems as though the Drilling team has reached their first Goal that being getting to the depth needed for Pulling up the big Bits and installing the casing for what they told us was the surface Run (3,700Ft) Wow in only 30 Hours they drilled that deep. And it takes a week to drill a little ole fresh water well back in Georgia. Anyway last night we had mud trucks Hauling off, Different service companies in for
They delivered a fine machine to the ranch today to clear a new roadway to pad E
different jobs like installing the caasing. another to run the cement around the casing, which takes a while to cement that much pipe and quite a few cement trucks and a Big ole Pump that looked a lot like the pumps they use in the Frac of oil wells. And all this time I thought that they had a drill team that did all these Jobs But No they bring in different companies for all the different Task. (Well Daddy used to say a day without learning was a wasted day.May God be teaching him Now Bless you Daddy)
Seems as though some sort of bracket on the uppermost part of the Rig broke last evening and they have had three different welders and a Hydrilic person working on that most of last night and today.
Some of the Drill crew returned from town a short time ago and said that they should begin the 2nd round of drilling tomorrow morning which will go down another 4,000ft before they start the flare for Horizontal drilling.
We also had a crew come in today to woirk on Pad E seems as though the oil company dug up there road to the pad to install gas and oil pipes so they now have to clear another roadway and build it so the rig can move from its present pad to that one once it reaches completion where it is now.
So stay tuned and we will continue to try to keep up.
This is the road that leads to the pipe line from our gate
The gate business has been rather slow here at the Schwope Ranch for the past couple of days. With only about 45 to 50 vehicles a day most of them getting tickets signed from where they moved the rigg in I guess. Yesterday they delivered 4 Semi’s of pipe for the surface drill the Company man called it and said they would install this pipe 12″ down to a depth of 3700ft And those drill bits are turning fast they started drilling yesterday at 4PM and they have
A shop of the Drill Rig from our RV at night
reached 3700 feet already and the coment trucks have just arrived to run cement for the pipe that we recieved yesterday. They say that they will be going another 4,000ft beforee they start the Horizonal run I guess if the next drilling goes as fast as this last day they will be starting the Horizonal before next week-end.
We still have the loggin trailer in so we
Night View of the McKnight's
still have great internet service sure would be great if they would go off and leave the Antenna with us kit is great to have 4G service on our aircard.
So stay tuned to see our best
Road that runs past our RV up the hill 1 mile to the Drill Rig On the corner is where everyone got stuck
Lights, Yes we have them looks like a city on the horizon and they have lights to includde a pretty red blinking lights on the derik. we have had a constant flow of trucks in and out today brining in different materials and they have had 2 welders working with steel that was brought in this morning.
Learning is always neat, The drilling side is completly different from the production side. For the last several
Road from Hwy into our gate
months we have always been on gates with frac and flow back rigs behind the gates so this drill stuff is for sure a nice change. We had some of the nomac team tell us this evening that they should start Drilling tomorrow morning early hours. So we will keep watching and hopefully learn more as the days go on.
Stay tuned in and we will continue to do the best we can with what is at hand.
This started a Gate jam, Wonderful stuff. Yep thye got stuck in the sand as the trailer house did but it took a lots more to get 118,000 pounds unstuck.
Wow I managed to get a page to open now if I can manage to get this written and posted I guess it will be good for family and friends. Since our last post they have managed to get the rig NoMac 46 moved in and most of the way up. One of the company men told us this afternoon that they should have the rigup completed tomorrow and hopefully turning Drill points on Sunday.
Today has been a study flow of different
Yes he burried the tractor to the axles front and back
Materials for the Drilling process and since this is our first encounter with a drilling rig most of it is Greek to us.
We had three trucks come in while I was naping this afternoon and on signing them in the Wife thought they were sand trucks as they were of the same types that we got on frac’s and she said the driver quickly informed her that they had Barite not sand.
They have some BIGGGGGGGGGGGGG loads with these Rigs
We still do not have the Derik lights so I guess that they do not have the tower up yet. Maybe tomorrow The Rig is 1 mile from us but maybe we will be able to see the tower.
I Am going to attempt to publish this now and then .
At any rate stay tuned and we will continue to do the best we can with what we got.
- WOW I guess they have lots of platforms…….HUH
Well I have found out that when the LOGG people come in for logging info on the well we get 4G service and I can upload pictures while they have there Ant up
This is our new location at the Schwope Ranch Gate
Wow today got us started off for sure Luke had appointment to get the puppies groomed over in Crystall City left at 06:15 arrived and dropped them off they never like that part. Managed to get a bracket fabricated at the welding shop and get Groceries while waiting on Pups. Returned to gate at 1:40PM to find that they had moved up the move in date by 1 day and had already delivered three Trailer Houses and several loades
Excitement they got the tow truck stuck making the turn at the gate
of drill pipe. we continue to recieve trucks as I write this post. Just let a water truck out that had delivered his second load of water for the Trailers. Tomorrow the rig is to start moving in so I guess we will have another busy and exciting day.
So stay tuned and we will \\\\\Look I managed to get 2 pictures to uplaod
